Novonappa® leather, formerly known as Barénia leather, is a French leather that sets the standard for luxury leathergoods in natural full-grain calf. A secret double-tanning process results in a unique natural finish.
Its softness of touch, depth of colour and the patina that develops with time are hallmarks of its distinctiveness.
Created 60 years ago at Barr, in Alsace, Noonappa®, formerly known as Barénia leather, is one of the best leathers in the world. The double-tanning secret—vegetable and mineral, with the skins treated by tumbling in warm air—is known only to a single tannery, and is an expression of the finest in French craftsmanship.
Originally used for saddles, its qualities were spotted by luxury leathergoods makers who made it their first choice for natural calf leather. The sensual feel, the patina that comes with age and its supple and firm structure combine in a leather particularly suited to the making of belts and small leathergoods.
Its natural finish makes it sensitive to scratches. (See Care Instructions.)
In order to preserve the beauty of your leather products, we recommend that you note the following advice :
.
◌ Keep your product away from abrasive surfaces that might scratch or mar the finish.
◌ Protect your product from humidity and direct heat like radiators or closed cars in summer.
◌ Avoid contact with the following products: liquids, hand creams, hand sanitizers, makeup and perfume.
◌ Should the bag come into contact with water, allow it to dry naturally, away from sources of direct heat. Once dry, if the leather has not returned to its natural suppleness, you can apply a neutral pH makeup-remover milk all over the piece with a soft cloth. Test an out-of-sight area first and observe the leather’s reaction. If successful, this cleaning will speed up the formation of the leather’s natural patina.
◌ To clean the leather, we advise you to wipe it with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Once dry, you can apply a neutral pH makeup-remover milk all over the piece. Test an out-of-sight area first and observe the leather’s reaction. If successful, this cleaning will speed up the formation of the leather’s natural patina.
